What is a Software based VoIP Phone? |

A software based VoIP phone or
soft phone is a VoIP telephone in software. It can be installed on a computer
and functions as an IP phone. Soft phones require appropriate audio hardware to
be installed on the computer. This can either be a sound card with speakers or
headphones and a microphone, or, alternatively a USB based phone handset. Soft
phones are often inferior to hard phones but cheaper to obtain with many
